BALMAIN X H&M

As it’s getting closer and closer, I’m getting so excited to see this collection! The creative director of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, walked the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards on May 17^th, alongside Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn. They were all dressed in Balmain x H&M – revealing the first pieces of the collection, and the announcement of the most exciting collaboration this year! Both Balmain and H&M announced it simultaneously through social media, inviting fans to join a movement of togetherness with #HMBalmaination.

H&M is a great retailer for collaborating with designers; this is the 11^th instalment of H&M’s designer collection, from collaborating with designers such as Karl Lagerfield, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, Sonia Rykiel, Comme des Garçons, Alexander Wang, Versace, Marni and Maison Martin Margiela. However Rousteing has said "My collaboration is different from the others. H&M really challenged themselves with craftsmanship, with the high couture level of France, and the results are great." Olivier has said that his main aim as a designer is to talk to his generation, and as a young creative director himself (he's 29), H&M is the perfect platform! So people who love Balmain but can’t afford it (most of us!)  Can buy into a piece of our very own Balmain!

The outfits Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn stepped out in were amazing, and if no one had told me I would have said they were Balmain, (I’ll definitely be saving up to splurge on this collection!). Kendall wore a navy jacket-dress embroidered with pearl-like beads which looked exactly like one of the jackets in The AW12 collection from Balmain. Kylie Jenner was also wearing the new collection and presented an award with Sister Kendall. Jourdan Dunn wore a top similar to one from the AW14 collection, and a ruched skirt (which is a spitting image of one from the AW13 catwalk!).  

Olivier Rousteing is well known for his 'Balmain Army' - his famous followers who regualrly wear his designs include Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna and Taylor Swift.
